Biography

Michal (Mike) Tomčány is a Slovak mobile game designer and business consultant with 14 years in the games industry. He designs free-to-play (F2P) mobile games and consults for studios on retention, monetization, economy, onboarding and live-ops. His current focus is production-ready game design written as LLM-ready game design documentation (GDD): Markdown instructions precise enough that a team, or an AI coding agent, can build from them.

Mike started selling early. At about seven he sold paper flowers to his mother’s shop, and as a teenager he served customers in her clothing shop. His father ran a construction company, and Mike spent time on his sites, writing the construction journal while his father dictated it. At 15 he took apart his first computer and built the next one himself, water cooling included.

He studied production in civil engineering at a secondary school in Slovakia (2001 to 2005) and architecture at the University of Westminster in London (BA Hons, 2007 to 2011). In London he worked as an architectural assistant at Adrian Salt and Pang (2008) and as a CAD drafter at LRK Associates (2010 to 2011), on projects including the Olympic Village in Stratford. Throughout, he used software to standardize repeatable work: renders, blueprints and AutoCAD libraries.

In 2012 he founded Studio Slovack and moved into games. His first company, Inkprime LTD in the UK, later renamed Studio Slovack LTD, published two mobile games on iOS and Google Play, Red Arrow and Verso, and also took on construction documentation and retail work. It closed in 2014. Mike says so openly: he ran his own studio into the ground. Until 2016 he did freelance and construction work.

From 2016 to 2020 he was Product Manager and Game Designer at Jet Play, working on hyper-casual F2P mobile games plus VR and AR projects. Jet Play published six games, and Mike worked with the AI tool that became Ludo.ai (project “Prometheus”). He then worked as an exclusive contractor: Senior Game Designer and Producer at PowerPlay Studio (2021), Lead Game Designer on Fishing Clash at Ten Square Games (2021 to 2022), where he led a team of 8 designers, and Lead Game Designer on Glow: Fashion Idol at CrazyLabs (2022 to 2024), which he took from concept to soft launch. From November 2024 to May 2026 he was Lead Designer for gameplay, UX and economy on WAGMI Defense at WAGMI Games.

Since November 2023 he has consulted through tomcany.com, invoicing through Studio Slovack s.r.o. in Slovakia. His clients are small studios of 5 to 10 people in India, Dubai, the UK and the US. He works remotely and speaks Slovak, Czech and English.
